The Application left behind such well-known services as TikTok, Netflix, Hulu, Disney + etc. Intellectual products made by Ukrainians make significant impact on the whole world today, its development including the cultural one. In time of global information technologies and the Internet as the main factor of human development everything related to the internet products is considered mainstream, the main trends are in design, culture, people’s outlook. Do many Ukrainians know today about the achievements of their fellow country-men in this area..?

The central focus of the documentary film with the tentative title TRUE_IT.UA is the IT industry of Ukraine as a branch rapidly developing that made it possible for a lot of young Ukrainians to find a decent job with a steady high income compared to other economic realms in Ukraine. Besides, a small number of Ukrainians were lucky to become founders of “vibrant” startups, some of which are unicorns today. At the same time this industry has its problems and challenges, while its heroes, apart from success, face frustrations and failures. The society developed a range of certain clichés associated with the work of software people. One of the focal points of the film is to show the real situation, as well as to dispel certain myths. The focus of the film is people, their life stories that are presented simultaneously with the history of development of the independent Ukraine. The central message of the film is life of present-day Ukrainians, their progress, problems, happy experiences, emotions and feelings.

The objective of the film is to explore the topic of the IT industry rather through personalities of its first-hand heroes than through figures and rates of startups. An entire generation of 20-40-year-old Ukrainians works today in this industry. Why is it so attractive for them? What is the way their life is shaped? What are their aspirations, their concerns and hopes? What is the way to achieve success in the industry and to establish a unicorn startup? What problems do they face, what disappointments do they come across, what traps and pitfalls are they unaware of? These and other questions will be answered in our film. In this context the key question of the film will be what the “Ukrainian dream” mean for young Ukrainians. And what are the feelings of those who, according to the public opinion, have already made this dream come true today?
